Big news! Keep Climbing Foundation’s Climb for the Kids (CFTK) 2021 will take place on the historic Appalachian Trail. All of our volunteer climbers will be hiking to Georgia’s highest peak next month to raise funds and awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

More than 30 volunteers have signed up to participate in the climb, committing to raise between $250 and $1,500 for RMHC each. Some climbers who can’t make it to Georgia are even climbing “virtually”—agreeing to match miles each day and raise funds remotely.

“We’re hiking for a cause, not for applause,” said John Cronin, The Home Loan Expert’s Chief Digital Officer who will be participating in the virtual hike by traversing Austin’s Greenbelt trails with a small team of coworkers. “I’m doing this because I believe in never saying never—we should do everything we can for kids in need of our support.”

This year’s climb marks the 8th CFTK event and the largest yet. The climb itself will take place from October 16-18, 2021, and volunteers will hike 21 miles on the Appalachian Trail before ending at Georgia’s highest peak, Brasstown Bald. As in years past, the climb is sponsored and underwritten by The Home Loan Expert, allowing for 100% of donations to go entirely to Ronald McDonald House Charities. RMHC will use the funds raised to help families and their children access much-needed medical care and resources

“The Appalachian Trail is one of the most iconic trails in the world, and as an avid hiker, I’ve dreamed of completing it for years,” said Keith Austin, Director of THLE Community. “I’m proud to be climbing 20 miles of the Appalachian Trail for children battling health challenges. 100% of all donations will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities—how great is that?”
